Marja Aartsen

Marja Aartsen, PhD, currently works as research professor at NOVA-Norwegian Social Research of Oslo Metropolitan University. She is a social gerontologist and specialized in longitudinal research on social relations, social exclusion, loneliness, and cognitive functioning in the second half of life. She is interested in social issues related to aging in place and active or successful ageing. Recent research projects and collaborations include gendered pathways to exclusion from social relations (GENPATH, until 2021), the COST Action reducing old-age social exclusion (ROSENET, until 2020), and multidimensional approach to social exclusion and its health consequences (AMASE). She is associated partner in the HOMeAGE doctoral network and previous editor of the European Journal of Ageing (until 2022).
